In Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is pregnant. “I’ve never felt closer to Mom,” she says. Which is great, because in this case Mom is Meryl Streep. Or, actually, in this case, she’s Lily James—who plays the younger version of Donna Sheridan in a series of flashbacks to her heady days as an irresistible, carefree woman who happens to catch the eye of not one, but three dudes. In the film, Sophie wants to know what happened when these suitors met her mother back in 1979. What did these hot young men look like decades ago? Also hot, FYI.
But all of that is just an appetizer for the true highlight…Cher. Yes, Cher plays Sophie’s grandmother, Ruby. She arrives on the island in a helicopter, in a platinum blonde wig and white suit, with hot pink nails, and ready to dominate that performance of “Fernando.” The best part: She wasn’t even invited. Whose idea was this? Give them one billion dollars.
Watch the final trailer above and get ready to cry when Sophie introduces Harry (Colin Firth), Bill (Stellan Skarsgard), and Sam (Pierce Brosnan) as her three dads. LOVE IS SO BEAUTIFUL.
Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again is out on July 20.
