Hot off her makeup collaboration with sister Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian is making another foray into the beauty industry, this time addressing the larger issue of cosmetics safety reform in the U.S.

The self-professed green beauty-lover is reportedly meeting with several members of congress to lobby for better regulation of beauty products. She’s working with the Environmental Working Group (EWG), which currently has a big #beautymadebetter initiative pushing for federal law to ensure stricter screening of personal care products made with chemicals linked to cancer, allergies, and other harmful effects. Existing legislation addressing safety standards of products has been unchanged since 1938.

Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is also apparently also with Kourtney. “The laws for cosmetics have been left untouched for nearly 80 years,” he said at a hearing in January, “We really should be taking this opportunity to consider legislation to give FDA the authority and the resources to ensure cosmetics are safe for the American people.”

Kourtney has made it no secret that she maintains an all-organic lifestyle. She’s big on non-toxic products, going so far as to stop wearing deodorant and DIYing her own. When she was developing the now defunct Kardashian Beauty back in 2013, she made sure they had no parabens nor sulfates.

She told Into the Gloss at the time that she learned about “dangerous ingredients” and forwarded them to everyone on the Kardashian Beauty team “to make sure that none of the ingredients were in our products,” she said, “For me, that’s the most important thing.”
